Tim is from Victoria B.C. and is a member of the local Island Woodturners Guild. After retiring from a career in oceanography, he has spent many hours in his shop exploring his passion for woodturning. Classes with well known woodturners have expanded his pallet of techniques. Tim draws his inspiration from living and working in the coastal environment. He creates turnings that have wonderful shape, texture and patterns. He loves to work with burls and wood with extravagant grain. Tim's passion for patterns leads him to create pieces influenced by nature. Simple spheres become worlds inhabited by his imagination. Green wood, turned thin, bends with its own forces as it dries, in a collaboration with nature. He also creates beautiful bowls and platters from a variety of native woods. A fine craftsman, all of Tim's turnings have a wonderful feel in your hand. Tim's enthusiasm for the world of woodturning is constantly fuelled by the challenges of shape and technique and the sharing of ideas with other woodturners.
