Amy Butler

Vancouver Island based artist Amy Butler presents her creative expression through majestic west coast forest scenes and breathtaking oceans vistas using acrylic brush strokes. Amy is profoundly inspired by the Group of Seven and admires the use of brush strokes to invoke feelings and direction in a painting.  She holds university designations in both Fine Arts and a Graphic Design.  Together with her education and practical experience, she has explored several types of media and mediums. Amy is powered by coffee, Jelly Belly candy and music while creating in her studio.  Music is a big motivator and provides inspiration, together with nature, for creating her art.  After a long day in the studio, she can be found gardening or playing music with her clarinet, saxophone and flute.

Amy is continually inspired on family walks and hikes around Vancouver Island.  Her camera is never far to add inspirational photos to her ever growing subject library.

Amy enjoys learning and hearing about the connection people make with her paintings.

“For me as an artist, I feel like I’ve done my job when people share with me how a painting speaks to them.  My collectors have often told me that my art speaks many messages including healing, conquering illness and celebration, remembering a loved one, vacation memories, happiness and joy or simply just appreciating the beautiful backyard we live in. It just makes me feel satisfied as an artist and accomplished to make someone’s life and wall space just a little bit better. This is what keeps me going.”
