David Flynn

I am  an Architect and a furniture maker.

Early in my career I became interested in the concept of "weathering in space" , exploring the idea of patina and the wear of materials over time and through use. This began an exploration of materials  that reflect through their use and a patina, the patina is a reflection of process.

I am interested in the ideas of process rather than the result of production.

My furniture uses construction grade materials. The inherent eccentricities are expressed and allow for a celebration of  asymmetry and oddities in  forms and shapes.

I am inspired by the idea of the surreal object.

Take an object and remove it from it's habitual context to allow for new perceptions and emotions.
