Artist Brenda Walker is an encaustic painter, the 2000+ year old art practice of painting with fire and beeswax.

Having been the co-founder/owner/operator of an art based cake decorating business for more than two decades, Brenda loved working with the encaustic medium because of its similarity to working with icing.

Each of Brenda’s paintings consists of many thin layers of molten wax that are applied and then heated with the flame of her torch. Her representational style reflects a simplicity that allows the viewers’ own creative thoughts or memories to interact with the paintings.

Brenda’s art can be found in homes and business spaces around the world. She currently resides and paints full-time in her home studio in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

“I devour nature ceaselessly. I exaggerate, sometimes I make changes in the subject; but still I don’t invent the whole picture. On the contrary, I find it already there. It’s a question of picking out what one wants from nature.” (Vincent van Gogh)
