In loving memory of our friend Joanna Drummond.

The work of Joanna Drummond (b. 1952) is endlessly evolving. This artist, who is also an instructor and mother, never ceases to push her discipline in new directions. She continues to work and teach, always ready to share her wisdom about life, creativity and her ultimate passion, clay. In 1976 Joanna moved from Ontario to Alberta. Joanna was instrumental in the community arts scene. Her guidance and eagerness helped establish the St Albert Potters Guild. Sculpting clay and raku firing fueled her passion. Her ability to master this complex process became something she shared willingly. Her extensive knowledge and delightful manner eventually led her to teaching design, gazing and raku firing. During Joanna’s 40+-year career, her work has been exhibited at The Mountain Galleries of Jasper, Banff and Whistler. Her unique pieces have found homes all over the world. She has enjoyed numerous private and public gallery showings throughout Western Canada. Joanna’s philanthropic spirit was acknowledged when she received the following; Awards • The United Nations International St Albert Woman of Distinction Award for Philanthropy • The Mayor’s Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts • Community Recognition Award in Arts and Culture, St Albert, Alberta Permanent Collections • The Alberta Foundation for the Arts • St Albert Arts and Heritage Foundation • The City of St Albert Commissions • The Lieutenant Governor’s Leadership Awards • The International Children’s Festival, St Albert, Alberta • The Government of Alberta

My work is grounded in real values and experiences. Unless I attempt something beyond what I have already mastered, I will cease to grow
