Carmen Mongeau

Carmen was born in Montreal. After a long and successful career with a major Corporation, she re-directed her focus to art with formal studies at the Ontario College of Art and Design. She is a contemporary abstract painter and printmaker and has had an art practice for twenty-five years. The majority of Carmen’s career has been in non-objective painting. However, recently her work took a significant turn and she is now deeply immersed in printmaking. The slow, meditative process of printmaking contrasts strongly with the immediate, intuitive process of painting.Carmen is a member of Experimental Abstract Artists and an Active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists. She regularly exhibits her work through Commercial Galleries and various Juried Art Exhibitions in the Province. Carmen is represented by The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, The Gallery at Mattick’s, The Nanaimo Art Gallery, The Waterfront Gallery as well as other galleries in the Province. Carmen is a recipient of several merit awards. Her work is held in private collections in Canada, USA, Japan, Sweden and New Zealand. She works from her home Studio on Vancouver Island.
